Client Spotlight:
Indiana Association of Cities and Towns (IACT)

Since 1891, the IACT has acted as the official voice of municipal government in Indiana. Through advocacy and by providing education to its members, their goal is to promote effective municipal government and enhance the quality of life in Indiana.

Promethius is proud to assist IACT with their IT and marketing needs. At present, we are busy helping with an office move and an upgrade of the office computer network and telephone system. Other recent projects have included a website redesign (www.citiesandtowns.org) and creation of two e-mail newsletters.

Thank you IACT for allowing us to be a part of your exciting changes and congratulations on your fantastic new office!

Definition of the Month

LCD monitor -
A monitor that uses LCD technologies rather than the conventional CRT technologies used by most desktop monitors. Until recently, LCD panels were used exclusively on notebook computers and other portable devices. In 1997, however, several manufacturers began offering full-size LCD monitors as alternatives to CRT monitors. The main advantage of LCD displays is that they take up less desk space and are lighter. Currently, however, they are also much more expensive.

Don't let what you cannot do interfere with what you can do."

Quick Ideas to Increase Sales

1. Join one or two networking groups.
Be selective when choosing a networking group or business association. But once you do, be very active and involved. Your business associates will grow to know and trust you. Many organizations have “transparent” members that do little more than show up to a meeting now and then. Don’t fall into this trap!

2. Respond promptly to all phone calls and correspondence.
Today’s business climate dictates that only the strong survive. Great customer service is a must. Make it your policy to return all calls and emails within 24 hours. With today’s technology, checking email and voicemail remotely is easier than ever. If you just can’t fit it in to business hours, leave a message after hours. Your client will appreciate the extra effort.

3. Develop a “most wanted” list of prospects.
Avoid spreading yourself too thin by trying to tackle an entire market. Instead, devote more time to a select number of prospects. This gives you the opportunity to tailor a more personalized and thoughtful approach for each potential client. They will notice the extra effort and attention!

Connect with Your Client Base Through Email

Email newsletters are here to stay. We wouldn’t put so much work into The Promethean if we didn’t believe that. You might consider starting an email newsletter for the same reasons we did:

1. Give something back – A newsletter is a great way to give valuable information to current and potential clients. Make sure that your newsletter is meaningful and useful. The last thing anyone wants is one more email to send to the “trash bin.” If you do it right, customers will appreciate your effort and will come to you first when they need the services you provide.

2. Visibility – There is not nearly enough time to call each and every contact you have. An email newsletter is a great way to remind your contacts of who you are and what you do. Be careful not to overdo it. We believe that a monthly distribution is about the right frequency. Anything less than quarterly tends to lose its effectiveness.

3. Savings – Hands down, email marketing is less costly than print. A full-color email newsletter has no associated print and postage costs. That’s hard to beat.

If you do decide to publish an email newsletter, be committed to it. Your hard work and persistence WILL pay off. If you are serious and would like any further advice, feel free to give us a call at 733-2388.
